Routine Dental Examinations

At Longton Dental Centre, routine dental examinations are the cornerstone of maintaining your oral health. These regular check-ups allow us to identify potential issues early, ensuring your teeth and gums remain healthy and your smile stays strong. During your examination, our dentists will:

Assess your teeth, gums, and overall oral health

Check for early signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues

Offer tailored advice to improve your oral hygiene at home

We recommend scheduling a check-up every six months to stay ahead of any dental concerns.

What to Expect

Your dental examination is an opportunity for us to assess your overall oral health and discuss any concerns you may have. During your visit, we will examine your teeth for signs of decay, wear, or damage to ensure they remain strong and healthy. We will also assess your gum health, looking for any signs of gum disease such as inflammation or bleeding, and provide advice to help prevent or manage it.

A thorough oral cancer screening is included, where we carefully check your mouth, tongue, and throat to identify any early signs of concern. If necessary, we may use advanced digital X-rays to examine areas that aren’t visible to the naked eye, such as beneath the surface of your teeth and gums. Finally, we’ll discuss your oral hygiene routine and provide tailored recommendations to help improve your dental care at home.

Your First Visit

If you’re new to our practice, we’ll take the time to understand your dental history and any concerns you have. Our thorough New Patient Examination, currently available for just £59, includes a comprehensive assessment of your oral health, a discussion about your goals, and a personalised treatment plan to ensure your smile is in the best hands.

Fillings

A filling is a very common procedure, and most of us will experience a tooth cavity that needs attention at some point in our lives.

Fillings may be required due to decay, damage or wear to the surface of the tooth. They offer a highly effective way to restore the structure and functionality of a tooth.

Tooth-coloured composite fillings are now more popular than the metal amalgam alternative, with many people choosing composite for aesthetic reasons. A composite filling can transform your smile in a cost-effective and pain-free way.

Effective solutions to cover defects and transform your smile.

If your teeth are suffering from damage that can’t be repaired with a standard filling, we can use a crown to restore structure and functionality. Crowns can also cover badly decayed teeth, protecting them from further damage, and conceal any discolouration or chips.

We are able to colour match your crown to your natural teeth, ensuring it slots perfectly into your smile. We can also make crowns from porcelain or ceramic material, making them as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment can prevent extractions and the need to replace missing teeth.

We want to do all we can to protect your natural teeth. If we can treat the infection while preventing extraction, it’s the best result for your overall oral health as well as better in the long term.

A successfully treated tooth will function just as your other teeth, and will need regular care and maintenance to protect it from gum disease and decay. Regular cleaning, in addition to regular visits to your dentist, will keep your tooth in great shape for life.
